A tour of the Cottage

Click the thumbnail images on the right to explore the cottage in more detail.

In spite of there being an enormous range of interesting things to do, see, and taste locally, our holiday guests don't seem to want to leave here, ever. Lakeside Cottage seems to be a serious chill-out location!

Bedroom
Luxury king-size woven flax bed with Vi-spring, king of mattresses, boutique quality duvet, sheet, pillows etc.

Billowy pintuck curtains for letting in the light during the day for relaxed privacy if required, and designer roman blinds for the night. Romantic mood lighting on dimmers with mood music by remote via dab
radio/cd or your own personal MP3 choice from the ipod docker.

A woven flax sofa and stool at the foot of the bed, for a relaxed view of the sweeping lawns to the lake and japanese 'Monet' bridge over to the green central island. The latched oak doors to the hall and en-suite, together with the white Provencal-style fretworked furniture emphasise the peaceful and tranquil nature of the cottage.

En-suite
The en-suite, a serious contender for the ultimate in chill-out factors, has a fully enclosed steam cabinet for two, with whirlpool bath, two individual showers, a large overhead shower, three panels of body jets, foot massagers and a radio/cd control panel connected to the bedroom music system; and of course bath seating for two complete with cushion pads for a prolonged stay.

Luxurious bathrobes come as standard. The two pairs of towelling slippers found in the hall, are yours with our compliments.

Kitchen
This is a fully equipped 5 star kitchen for those who like being their own chef; large electric oven, 5 ring gas hob, dishwasher, fridge-freezer, washer/dryer, microwave, juicer, coffee (pod) machine etc. and, of course an electronic wine cooler.

Sitting Room
A large squashy leather chaise longue sofa beside an intimate open radiant gas fire in the inglenook.
Facing you, (as well as the large flat tv screen/cd/dab radio/ video/dvd), are french doors which look out straight over the natural stone patio and lawn to the lake, with its waterfall adjacent to the patio.

There are beautiful panoramic views of the lake and island in front of the cottage through the large
nine-paned window, beside white Provencal-style fretworked dining table and chairs.

Here is to laze your days, lulled by the tumbling waterfall with a good book or magazine, sipping your drink of choice and watching the setting sun in the lake as it drops over the valley horizon to the west. Please don't swat the dragonflies and damselflies if they alight on your arm or leg. They are very friendly, harmless and quite beautiful and will sometimes want to sunbathe on exposed limbs or clothing. If you are of a mind they can be slowly coaxed onto your hand or finger for closer scrutiny whilst you sip your drinks on the loungers or the comfortable chairs with granite topped table for alfresco eating.

There is an old fashioned patio light for the romantic 'a deux' in the late evening, watching the little bats swooping over the lake after insects during the warm summer nights, with the occasional hoots and screech of owls. Lakeside Cottage is the only holiday cottage here, for better or worse you are on your own.
